Meet the Nurse Practitioners
At Northwest Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine, our physicians and nurse practitioners work together as a team to provide outstanding service and patient care. Our nurse practitioners have extensive backgrounds in critical care and have worked and trained at the best hospitals in Illinois, including Rush University Medical Center, Northwestern Memorial Hospital, and the University of Illinois at Chicago. Meet them below.
Nonie Russell, DNP, CNP
Nonie is a board-certified acute care nurse practitioner with over 30 years of experience in critical care. She joined Northwest Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine in 2009. She sees patients in several long-term ventilator care facilities and nursing homes.
Nonie is well known for giftedness in managing complex patients on ventilators and successfully liberating patients from their ventilators and tracheostomies. She completed her doctoral degree in nursing practice (DNP) at the University of Illinois in Chicago and was chosen to present her research at a national symposium. Nonie enjoys being with her family, and especially her grandchildren.
Amanda Law, MS, CNP
Although Amanda first joined Northwest Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine when the practice was established in 2007, she began working with Dr. Kellar in 2001 while they were both at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago. Amanda has spent the majority of her career specializing in critical and acute care and has had additional training in sleep medicine. After completing her master’s degree, she also did doctoral coursework at the University of Illinois in Biobehavioral health science. She has worked as a nurse practitioner both at Rush and Northwestern Memorial Hospital in oncology and was a pioneer of the intensivist nurse practitioner program in the medical ICU at Northwestern. She enjoys spending time with her husband and two children.
